Six months later, the player boards a plane to Bayview with a good luck note from Samantha that also refers to her friend, Rachel Teller, as well as car key with the name 'Rachel'. A man with a scythe tattoo on his hand calls to confirm that he "took care of a problem". Whilst talking to Samantha on the phone, he is ambushed by a Hummer H2 in a dark alley that blinds him with the headlights, then rams and wrecks his Skyline. Angered, the player immediately hangs up the call and drives to a celebratory party. After winning a race, the player receives a call by an unidentified man with a "invitation" to join his team which is followed with a threat by saying he "is not taking no for an answer". The story begins after the player has beaten Eddie and his street racing gang, "The Eastsiders", along with Melissa in Olympic City and is now revered as the best street racer in Olympic City, now driving a blue Nissan Skyline GT-R. The Nintendo DS port introduces a new feature in which the player can design custom decals to adorn any vehicle in the game. The game's storyline is presented in a comic book strip. Brooke Burke is the voice of Rachel Teller, the person who guides the player throughout the game. Need for Speed: Underground 2 provides several new features, such as broader customization, new methods of selecting races, set in a city known as Bayview. The game entails tuning cars for street races, resuming the Need for Speed: Underground storyline. Like its predecessor, it was also commercially successful, selling around 11 million copies worldwide and breaking sales records in the United Kingdom. Another version for mobile phones was also developed. Game Boy Advance and Nintendo DS versions were developed by Pocketeers, and a PlayStation Portable version, titled Need for Speed: Underground Rivals, was developed by Team Fusion. It was developed for Microsoft Windows, GameCube, PlayStation 2, and Xbox. It is the eighth installment in the Need for Speed series and the direct sequel to Need for Speed: Underground. While this will remain purely a fan project, it could very well provide a preview of what the currently-untitled official Need For Speed game that is said to be in the works could look like should it race onto current consoles like the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S.Need for Speed: Underground 2 is a 2004 racing video game developed by EA Black Box and published by Electronic Arts. Ivan Novozhilov’s blistering Need For Speed Underground 2 fan remake is just the latest of these Unreal-powered passion projects, deftly recreating the thrill of racing through the streets of Bayview with modern-day graphics. Aside from remakes of existing titles, Unreal Engine has been used to build dream games based around classic characters like Superman and Spider-Man. These include visually stunning recreations of classics like The Legend Of Zelda: Ocarina Of Time and the original Metal Gear Solid, as well as more contemporary tributes to The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim. Using Unreal Engine 4 and the new Unreal Engine 5, modders from all across the internet have built impressive remakes and remasters of classic games just like Need For Speed Underground 2. Novozhilov’s Need For Speed Underground 2 remake is still a work in progress, and EA has yet to give an official response to the project. According to DualShockers, this still-in-development fan remake adds more than shinier graphics to Need For Speed Underground 2, as Novozhilov aims to fix various issues from the original game like stuttering radio noise and missing textures on top of new features like named locations within each track, optimized in-game weather and destructive environments, and drastically revamped driving behavior. Sure enough, this brief demo features impressive graphics as a speedy blue racecar zips through dark city streets, complete with more dynamic reflections and lighting. However, a modder named Ivan Novozhilov recently imagined how a revamped version of Need For Speed Underground 2 could look and play if it was built using Unreal Engine 4, and posted a video of his work under the YouTube handle of 2Unreal4Underground. On the other hand, an updated remaster of 2010’s Need For Speed: Hot Pursuit was met with a warmer reception, and recent rumors have hinted that brand-new Need For Speed games are in development from Criterion Games and Pokémon Unite developer TiMi Studio Group. However, more recent years have not been as kind to the Need For Speed series, with newer entries like 2019’s Need For Speed Heat being met with mixed reviews at best and various Need For Speed sequels being delisted from online servers due to waning player interest last year.
